This necklace is nature at her best.  It is 6 strands of freshwater pearls showcasing a rare African beach find, the "door" of an alikreukel (pronounced alley-creek-ill) shell.  The alikreukel is a large sea snail eaten in southern Africa.  It uses this door to seal itself inside its great round shell.

This necklace is a single strand of freshwater pearls and sterling silver Bali beads with a lovely shell found on the shores of Africa by the artist.  The inside of the shell mimicks the shimmer and color of the pearls.

This necklace uses three Kenyan Batik bone beads and a strand of freshwater pearls and spacer beads holding the "door" of an alikreukel shell, which was found on the shores of Africa by the artist.  The shell is lovely on both sides, therefore the necklace was made to wear both ways (see picture below).  A fourth carved bone bead dangles down your back.  The clasp is sterling silver.  The necklace is beaded using nylon wrapped stainless steel wire for strength.  The alikreukel (pronounced alley-creek-ill) is a large sea snail eaten in southern Africa.  It uses this door to seal itself inside its large round shell.

It hangs from a string of amethyst chips, beads and chunks, yellow frosted glass beads, nickel round beads, Ethiopian silver prayer beads and two chunks of yellow jade. The clasp is handcrafted.
